Soften and smooth lines and wrinkles with Botox®.
There are 2 types of facial wrinkles – dynamic and static. Static wrinkles are caused by a loss in volume and collagen and present when our face is at rest. These wrinkles are treated with dermal fillers. Dynamic wrinkles are caused by muscle contraction and we see these wrinkles when we smile, laugh or frown. These wrinkles are treated with neurotoxins, like Botox. This muscle-relaxing treatment helps expression lines such as frown lines, crows feet and forehead lines soften or disappear.
What is Botox®?
Botox is the #1 aesthetic treatment worldwide. Botox® is an injectable anti-wrinkle treatment that targets expression lines and dynamic wrinkles. It is a neurotoxin that temporarily blocks nerve action and muscle contraction, to let wrinkles relax. This highly effective treatment targets wrinkles that come from facial expressions, including smile, laugh, and frown lines. Botox® at NovaSculpting® is delivered by our highly trained nurse injectors.
How Does Botox® Work?
Botox® works by blocking the communication between facial muscles and nerves. Despite the name “neurotoxin,” it causes no damage, and communication returns to normal when Botox® wears off within 3 – 4 months. Without signals from the nerves, the targeted muscles stop contracting, preventing fine lines and wrinkles.
With the muscles inactivated, the tension on your skin disappears. Botox® precisely targets the muscles that create lines and wrinkles. Other facial muscles continue to work normally, so you look naturally younger and more refreshed. Skilled Botox® injections will not leave a fake or “overdone” look.
Am I a Good Candidate for Botox®?
Good candidates for Botox® would like to soften or eliminate expression lines and wrinkles without surgery or recovery time. Ideal candidates for Botox® want to address wrinkles in these FDA-approved areas:
- Frown lines between the brows (glabellar lines or “the 11’s”)
- Horizontal forehead lines and creases
- Crow’s feet around the eyes
Botox® is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You may not be a good candidate if you have certain medical conditions or have had a reaction to Botox® before.
What is a Typical Botox® Treatment Like?
Prior to your Botox® appointment, your NovaSculpting nurse injector provides a complimentary consultation and collaborates with you to create your customized treatment plan. The injections take 15 to 20 minutes, and you can leave immediately afterward. You may feel a slight pinch with the injections, but our providers are committed to providing a very comfortable experience.
What Results Will I See With Botox®?
Botox® full results take seven to ten days.. You will notice lines and wrinkles become smoother, and people may see that you look more refreshed. Botox® results will last three to four months. We highly recommend patients receive Botox treatments every three to four months to prevent dynamic wrinkles from returning.
Is There Any Downtime With Botox®?
Some people refer to Botox® as a “lunchtime treatment” because you can come in during your lunch break, get your injections, and go back to work. There is little to no downtime. You should avoid strenuous exercise or laying down for hours after your treatment. You may notice some red spots, bruising, or sensitivity that may last a few days.
